Blackberry vs. iPhone
I wrote a post a couple of months ago about the iPhone and how much I loved it, well I sold both my wife's and mine yesterday. I do say they will be missed, but I thought it best to sell them before the new ones arrived and get a good price...lol. Within moments of posting the iPhone on Craigslist.org they were sold for $225 each, I could have gotten more but thought it best to sell quick for a decent price...new ones are going to sell for $199 with 2 year contract.
I decided to go back to the Blackberry that I really missed, some really important features that Apple just doesn't have and doesn't seem to want to put in their phone. I will miss the IMAP feature the most, but the fact that we will be able to use the Suprakey with Blackberry sometime later this year will more than make up for the lack of IMAP. I still wonder how they are going to make the key work on Blackberry, Blackberry's don't have IR capabilities. I can't imagine that they will update the boxes to bluetooth so I'm assuming a USB dongle of some sort. Anyways, that one feature would have me back in Blackberry's camp in a second.
The one thing that drove me the most crazy about the iPhone was the lack of contact search, but they have corrected that in 2.0 firmware that will be released on July 11, I believe. The other complaint was the lack of being able to save a picture, or file from an email...don't get me started about not being able to send a picture as a text. The iPhone really does have a ton of cool features that I will miss, but I'm kind of happy to be back home with my Blackberry Curve (which I'm returning for the Bold when it releases later this month, hopefully).
I chuckle at all my friends that can't believe I gave my iPhone up, but I got a great price selling them and can always take $200 out of the $225 and get the new one next month if I have serious withdrawals. I will be bummed if they don't get the Suprakey to work on the BB, but it sounds like it's a done deal and will be available by the end of this year.
