Beautiful Box Canyon
A Trail Riders Dream
My Family and I love trail riding with quads, all-terrain vehicles and motorcycles…my personal favorite is the Polaris Ranger which we modified and now seats six. One of my brother-in-law's favorite areas to ride is in Box Canyon just outside of Florence, Arizona and it has some spectacular views that you just wouldn't expect. This day he took us on a trail that I hadn't been on before and I wasn't disappointed as it turned out to be a beautiful ride. Here are some pictures of our trail riding day, the first three are from the summit of one of the hills that we climbed.
It really was beautiful up there looking down into the valleys with all of the Saguaro's, definitely worth the ride. Box Canyon does have a reason that it's called Box Canyon, it gets very tight on both sides and they rise up at least fifty feet on both sides…I think much more but I didn't want to get dramatic. We had people going both ways so we weren't able to stop and take any pictures once we got in, not to mention we were trying to keep up with one of the riders whose clutch cable broke just as we entered the canyon. It never fails, you can take an entire parts store with you and you still won't have the part that broke….Murphy's Law. We didn't have a spare clutch cable so they got it in second gear and then gave him a push start. The rider managed to go the entire way back to camp without a hitch, something I would not have been able to do for sure. Anyways, here are a couple of pictures just as we entered the Canyon.
All of us trying to figure out what to do without a clutch cable in a very rocky canyon.
The day was great, everyone had fun and we had no injuries…a successful trip. I would recommend this trip to anyone that likes a good outing. If you would like some information on where to go to find Box Canyon, please feel free to ask.
